For as long as she can remember, Dr. Jaya Baker has been passionate about helping others and making a difference in people’s lives, though she didn’t yet know what form that calling would take. She found her answer during her gap year after finishing undergraduate school, when she saw a naturopathic doctor for her own health. As she listened to the doctor explain how she would approach her case, Dr. Baker knew without a doubt that this was the medicine she was meant to practice. Before medical school, she earned her B.S. in Pharmacological Chemistry from the University of California, San Diego, and worked as a pharmacy technician. That work gave her extensive knowledge of medications, but she wanted a more involved role in her patients’ health, one where she could guide, educate, and walk alongside them. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University San Diego, and her background in pharmacy continues to serve her patients well, especially when it comes to integrating natural therapies with their current medications.
Dr. Baker sees patients of all ages and enjoys helping them with a wide range of acute and chronic health concerns. She believes every patient deserves an individualized plan, and she follows the therapeutic order, beginning with the foundations of health and adding more targeted therapies only as needed. Although she is trained in many modalities, she especially loves working with nutrition, botanical medicine, and homeopathy. Patients can expect a warm, attentive doctor who takes the time to listen and understand their full story. Originally from San Diego, Dr. Baker moved to Tucson with her husband after graduating and has loved exploring the city’s restaurants, especially its sushi and Mexican spots. Her greatest joys are Jesus, her family, and movie nights at home. She looks forward to getting to know each of her patients and helping them build health that lasts.
