Optimizing Mind and Body: Interview with Dr Mike Fortunato

Transcript

Dr Mike Fortunato spent nearly two decades in conventional medicine, ultimately as a board-certified anesthesiologist trusted with life-or-death decisions every single day. But behind the career, his own life was quietly unraveling. His body was breaking down. Chronic pain. Shingles. A severe ulcer. Like many of the patients he now works with, he looked functional on the outside while internally feeling exhausted, disconnected, and unlike himself. After realizing the medical system had failed him as a patient too — dismissed despite very real symptoms because his labs came back "normal" — Mike began restoring his hormones and rebuilding his physical health. But physically improving didn't solve the deeper disconnection he still felt from himself and his life. Today, Dr. Mike works with both men and women at a rare intersection most physicians never speak about openly: the connection between biology, emotional health, identity, and the way people show up in their relationships, work, and everyday lives. Patients come to him when everything else has failed. What follows is rarely just physical improvement. It's people reconnecting with the version of themselves that was always there — just waiting to be found.
