- Ask for help in changing your mindset:
- "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
- Deliberately choose to focus on good things:
- "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." Philippians 4:8"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24
- Regardless of what might seem to go wrong, believe that God will make it work in your favor:
- "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." Prov 3:5
- We aren't promised perfect circumstances, but we have strength to handle what comes and can choose to be content:
- "I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Phil 4:11-13). "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:10). "Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Heb 13:5
- God will provide anything you truly need, when your focus is on Him:
- "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matt 6:33
- Be thankful (in general):
- "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,

- present your request to God." Philippians 4:6"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" 1 Thess 5:16-18. "And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful." Col 3:15"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's." Ps 103:1-5
- A cheerful attitude attracts God's help:
- "The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them." Psalm 34:7"Do all things without grumbling or disputing" Phil 2:14
- Be patient in affliction, and don't give up:
- "Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." Romans 12:12"If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small." Prov 24:10"I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!" Psalm 27:13"For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal." 2 Cor 4:17-18
- Watch what you say:
- "It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” Matt 15:11"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits." Prov 18:21"A fool's mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to his soul." Prov 18:7"Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear." Eph 4:29"Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap." Gal 6:7
- Watch what you think, so you will watch what you say:
- "Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matt 12:33-37"We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ" 2 Cor 10:5"Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life."
