Food Fix

I stumbled upon this at a library sale, and I'm so glad I did! It was a book I didn't know I'd been looking for, but I was--explaining the political side of why our health care system is so broken, as it pertains to agriculture. I love how big-picture this is: I had no idea that the reason *why* corn, soy, and wheat are so ubiquitous is because those crops are subsidized, while fruits and veggies aren't. I was fully aware that it was incredibly expensive to eat healthy, but cheap to eat crap. I've heard this couched in the past as a personal choice: "pay now or pay later (in medical bills)". But I didn't understand how government policies are largely to blame for this, nor what we might be able to do about it, beyond voting with our dollars and our food choices. I could have done without some of the other partisan agendas espoused by the author, but the rest of the information is gold.
